Aftercare is important.
Please follows these important steps to ensure your tattoo heals to its absolute potential.
Please do:
Keep it covered with the clingfilm for 1-2 hours post appointment
Or if we have used the “second skin” you can keep this on for up to 5 days.
NOTE// it is NORMAL that the ink will pool a little bit under the second skin and also look like the ink is spreading (this is because the fresh ink is underneath the coverage and gets a little gooey under there from the blood plasma), HOWEVER if the second skin is extremely itchy or welting or bubbling up, you might be having a reaction to the second skin and I advise you take it off right away, gently wash and continue with the following steps bellow.
When removing the second skin, be sure to pull in the same direction outwards rather than ripping back against its direction, this will be better in order not to rip the scab off in the healing process.
Once the cover has been remoced- please gently wash with natural based soap and warm water, rinse and pat dry with a clean towel/paper towel
Apply a thin layer of natural based tattoo aftercare/balm 1-2 times daily for the first few weeks.
We sell a local aftercare balm from the artist directly for only $10.
If your tattoo is in a place that is prone to rubbing, use Fixomull or Derma Guard for tattoos to heal faster. (They allow tattoos to breathe and can be left on for up to a week)
I find the best way to heal is to let it do it's thing and try not to irritate it.
Make sure to where loose clothing over it and not get it sunburnt, or pet hair on the tattoo in it’s healing process.
Please do NOT:
(this applies to the first 2 weeks of healing time at least)
Avoid getting a sunburn directly after your tattoo or within the first few months as it is prone to fading and the skin will be also extra sensitive.
Please stay out of the ocean or swimming pools for the first 2 weeks of healing/ or until it has fully healed. Your tattoo is an open wound and you don’t want it to get infected! Showers are fine but don’t soak them.
Avoid going into a sauna/ steam room/ soaking in a bath tub while it’s in the healing process, this opens the pores of the skin, not good while you have fresh ink in there
Do not exfoliate/ apply fake tan/ heavy fragrance lotions during this healing period directly over the tattoo, you want to keep it clean and using product that support the healing or your marking
Try to avoid pet hair or grubby hands on or around the tattoo while it’s fresh
It is my absolute priority that your tattoo heals to the best of its ability and these care instruction have been carefully curated with years of knowledge to make sure that it does.
These precautions are to make sure that it does not get infected and will be looking the best, as the initial healing really does affect it’s over all longevity
With love and blessings always,
